Highway was founded by Leopold Harris who started a mission hall which was opened and dedicated in January 1936. Since then, the church has remained on the same plot of land but in several different buildings and in 2006 we moved into our current brand new building.
Todays Highway Church is dedicated to being a New Testament Church in the 21st century. What we mean by this is that we are a group of men, women and children from different walks of life and different nationalities with a common aim and goal of following the example of the early church as laid out in the New Testament of the bible. We are committed to a Jesus centred, biblical, Holy Sprit filled Christianity with a desire to play our part in making the love of God tangible in the borough of Newham as part of the church in Newham. We also hope to help touch people right across London and the UK, and, with the wide spread of nationalities represented in our Church, the world!
